tree

watched a vine crawl up it
one summer

then one spring
a snake sneak up faster

one hungry for sun
one hoping to ambush

the sunstirred earth arise
rousing it all skywards

tree vine snake and me

this sameness in us
spite of our differences

our climbing and reclimbing
teaching us time

and touching something
in us much older
